Peter Gard, MBBS, FRACSFellow in Adult Joint Reconstruction (Harvard University) ![]() Peter Gard completed his medical training at the University of Melbourne, graduating in 1986. He trained initially at the Austin and Repatriation Hospitals and later working as an Orthopaedic Registrar at several hospitals in Melbourne during 1991-1996. Peter was admitted to the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 1996 as a fully qualified Orthopaedic Surgeon. In 1997, Peter travelled to the United States and completed a Fellowship in Adult Joint Reconstruction at the Brigham and Womens Hospital, Boston. During this period, Peter undertook extensive training in arthroplasty, which was consistent with his surgical interest in practicing as an arthroplasty surgeon. Whilst in the USA, Peter worked as an Attending Surgeon at Lahey Clinic, Massachusetts and a Clinical Instructor at Boston University. Peter returned to Australia in late 2000 and has since practiced as a private orthopaedic surgeon at Warringal Hospital, Epworth Hospital, and The Freemasons Hospital. He also regularly attends in public consultation at the Austin Hospital and Maroondah Hospital. Peter’s main expertise is in joint replacement and revision surgery of the hip, and knee replacement surgery. Peter has been active sportsperson throughout his life and has a keen interest in golf and tennis. Key procedures performed:
