Stuart Imer - Physiotherapist

Stuart Imer coordinates management of patients at The Park Clinic Physiotherapy. He has worked at the Mercy Private Hospital site in East Melbourne for 8 years, with a focus on orthopaedic rehabilitation after lower limb surgery. He also sees patients with upper limb, spinal and sports injuries. His main aim is the rapid rehabilitation of patients to high level function. With Stuart’s special skills in managing difficult foot and ankle cases, he is often involved in assisting patients from a large geographic area. Often he will liaise with regional physiotherapists in managing patients from out of town.

Stuart has 23 years experience with orthopaedic patients. He has worked in a variety of settings in inpatient and outpatient orthopaedic rehabilitation, in Melbourne, Hobart and Vancouver Canada. He has coordinated physiotherapy for the Australian Cross Country Ski Team since 1994. He is a keen recreational cross country ski racer himself, and also enjoys cycling and adventure sports. He has extensive work experience with endurance athletes.

Stuart works full time at The Park Clinic with the majority of his time spent in the practice, and some time on the wards at the Mercy Private campus. Treatment is usually in the form of hands on techniques, and specific exercise prescription to allow patients to maximise their recovery; even whilst away from the clinic. Education and setting realistic and achievable goals is usually part of each patient’s care.

Stuart is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and Sports Medicine Australia. He lectures regularly to these and other groups.
