Stuart Imer

Stuart Imer

Stuart graduated in physiotherapy from Lincoln Institute in 1985.  He worked in orthopaedic rehabilitation in Hobart, before travelling to Canada for two years.  At Vancouver General Hospital, Stuart was responsible for co-ordinating delivery of physiotherapy to inpatients at the hospitals orthopaedic rehabilitation gym.  Patients included joint replacements, reconstructive, amputees and trauma. 

On returning to Australia, Stuart become principal physiotherapist at South Yarra Physiotherapy, a multidisciplinary orthopaedic practice and completed his post graduate qualifications in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.  He has been Team Physiotherapist to the Australian Cross Country Ski Team since 1994. 

Over the past seven years, Stuart has pursued his special interest in lower limb dysfunction, and is practising full-time at The Park Clinic in both the rooms and The Mercy Private Hospital.  Stuart co-ordinates the provision of outpatient physiotherapy services at The Park Clinic Physiotherapy. 

Stuart is a member of Sports Medicine Australia and the Australian Physiotherapy Association.  He lectures regularly to these and other groups.

Below are details of other physiotherapists who work with member of the Park Clinic, providing all aspects of physiotherapy care in pre-operative, post-operative inpatient, and outpatient rehabilitation stages.

 

Debbie Benger

Debbie Benger

Debbie Benger graduated in physiotherapy from Lincoln Institute in 1984, and from postgraduate studies at LaTrobe University in 1991. Debbie worked in orthopaedics, plastics and rheumatology in Melbourne and then in Toronto, Canada.

Upon returning to Melbourne, Debbie continued hospital work in conjunction with outpatient work at a large sports medicine centre. Since 1989, Debbie has developed a special interest in the treatment of hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder problems.

In addition to treating patients, Debbie lectures to both undergraduate and post graduate physiotherapists in the management of upperlimb problems. She is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, a titled member of the Mucsculoskeltal Physiotherapy Group and a member of the Australian Hand Therapy Association.

Debbie, along with Pauline MacLeod, co-ordinates provision of inpatient physiotherapy services at Mercy Campus.

Pauline MacLeod

Pauline MacLeod

Pauline MacLeod graduated in a Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy) from Queen Margaret College Edinburgh in 1989. She worked at the John Radcliff Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospital in Oxford before travelling to Australia.

Pauline worked as a senior physiotherapist at Geelong Hospital in trauma/ICU and at Corio Bay Sports Injuries Clinic, being involved with the physio for Geelong Football Club for two years.

Pauline returned to Melbourne and was the club physio for Power House Rugby Union Team, and worked at Hampton Rehabilitation Hospital with orthopaedic and trauma patients for four years.

Pauline established, in partnership, and ran for 4 years, Hampton Rehabilitation Centre - a multidisciplinary private practice. She has worked at St Vincents and Mercy Private Hospital since 1996. Her special interest is in knee surgery, paediatric orthopaedics and external fixators. Pauline is currently involved in numerous research studies.

Pauline, along with Debbie Benger, co-ordinates provision of inpatient physiotherapy services at Mercy Campus.

Greg Varigos

Greg Varigos
Greg completed a Bachelor of Science from the University of Latrobe, before completing his physiotherapy studies at Lincoln Institute in 1983.

As well as his work with the Park Clinic, Greg has an interest in shoulder, elbow, knee, ankle and paediatric treatment.

Greg’s own athletic career, at state, national and international levels provides him with a valuable insight into sports medicine. Greg has a long history of providing professional advice to a variety of International Sporting Teams and events, including: the Olympic Games, Deaflympics, West Indies cricket team and the European International Track and Field Grand Prix Circuit, North Melbourne Football Club, as well as local athletics clubs, soccer, basketball and weightlifting teams.

Greg is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA), the APA Sports Physiotherapy Group, Sports Medicine Australia and Deaf Sports Australia.

Currently, Greg is preparing for the 2006 Commonwealth Games, working with the Australian Weightlifting Team, and recently headed the Medical team for the 2005 Deaflympic Games held in Melbourne.
